The Wonderful Work of the World Wildlife Fund

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

The giant panda is perhaps the most powerful symbol in the world when it comes to species conservation. Adored around the world, the distinctive black and white animal is a national treasure in China and has been the symbol of WWF since its formation in 1961.

DLD College proudly supports the work of the WWF. Year 10 English Language students used its website to research animals that were in danger of becoming extinct or were critically endangered.

They then each gave a Power-point presentation for the Speaking and Listening component of the English exam. Whoever gave the best presentation was given the opportunity to select which animal DLD would adopt from the WWF’s list of endangered animals.

Here is Jay Bardsley’s receiving his award for the best presentation on the critically endangered Javan Gibbon. Well done Jay!

And here is the Jaguar (well, a cuddly toy version) that we have adopted.

Thanks to Laila for the photo.
